Bosch Powerstar Electric Water Heaters: The AE Models
Bosch Powerstar is a good line of products that provides variety. They are designed for anyone who needs hot water. They can be used for every small home, although they are not designed to provide a shower with hot water. The products I will talk about in this article are: AE 7.2, AE 12, AE 3.4, AE 9.5.
I’m going to start with the AE 7.2 model because it is my favourite model and it is the most common one. The AE 7.2 is a small tankless water heater that uses electricity. It is pretty cheap and comes in handy for a small home. The price for a AE 7.2 is somewhere around $218. It is perfect for a home that has one bathroom and one kitchen. The efficiency of a AE 7.2 is 99%. The maximum temperature rise the hot water can reach is 135 degrees Fahrenheit and the lowest flow rate is 0.5 gallons per minute. The heating elements as well as the heating exchanger are made of solid copper. Everything is housed in tough plastic. The bad side of this product is that it can’t supply a shower and they can’t use preheated water, but the good part is it is very easy to install and it fits almost anywhere. The warranty is 5 years for the heat exchanger and 1 year for all parts.
The AE 12 has almost the same specifications as the AE 7.2 with a few exceptions. The lowest flow rate is 0.75 gallons per minute and the highest is 1.5 gallons per minute. The installation must be done horizontally. As for the performance, it provides 1.5 gallons per minute at a 55 degrees Fahrenheit rise, 1 gallon per minute at a 65 degrees Fahrenheit rise and 0.7 gallons per minute a 70 degree Fahrenheit rise. The price for this product is somewhere around 250$.
The only models left to talk about are AE 3.4 and AE 9.5. As you have seen, the AE 7.2 is considered as the average one. The AE 12 has the highest power and AE 3.4 and 9.5 are somewhere between. They have the same qualities as the 7.2 except for a few things. The AE 3.4 amperage is 29 and the maximum water flow is 1 gallon per minute. The AE 9.5 has an amperage of 40 and the highest flow rate is 1.5 gallons per minute. They both cost somewhere around $218.
If you need hot water for a small home just for the bathroom kitchen and maybe a sink or two, the perfect choice is the AE Powerstar model. It is very cheap and very easy to install. With it, you can have hot water anytime at a low price!
